El objetivo central del artículo es dar cuenta de la transición de los sistemas de transporte en Colombia, para ello, se incorporaron algunos elementos del contexto en que éstos fueron instaurados, así como ciertas transformaciones económicas que lo propiciaron. Establecer un panorama general de los transportes implicó, por un lado, analizar las políticas económicas que han atenuado las variaciones, limitaciones y potencialidades de cada medio y, por otro, tener en cuenta una serie de elementos (geográfico, cultural, económico) que determinan su funcionamiento a nivel local, regional o nacional.

The central objective of the article is to account for the transition of transportation systems in Colombia, for this, some elements of the context in which they were introduced were incorporated, as well as certain economic transformations that propitiated it. Establishing a general panorama of transport involved, on the one hand, analyzing the economic policies that have mitigated the variations, limitations and potentialities of each medium and, on the other, taking into account a series of elements (geographical, cultural, economic) that determine its functioning at the local, regional or national level.

L’objectif principal de l’article est de rendre compte de la transition des systèmes de transport en Colombie. Certains éléments du contexte dans lequel ils ont été introduits ont été intégrés, de même que certaines transformations économiques qui l’ont favorisée. Etablissant un panorama général des transports impliqués, d’une part, analysant les politiques économiques ayant atténué les variations, les limites et les potentialités de chaque support et, d’autre part, prenant en compte une série d’éléments (géographiques, culturels, économiques) son fonctionnement au niveau local, régional ou national.
