^les^aEste artículo plantea la institucionalización de los derechos de agua en México, a partir de la problemática generada en la región de La Laguna, en torno al río Nazas, a fines del siglo XIX y primera mitad del XX, y como resultado de un proceso de conflicto-negociación asociado a los principios ideológicos y al andamiaje institucional del modelo de democracia, adoptado por el país desde 1824. La investigación cubre dos momentos relevantes de dicho proceso: el fin del gobierno porfirista, durante el cual se decretó el dominio público de las principales corrientes y cuerpos de agua y el periodo posterior a la revolución, cuando se concretaron los derechos de agua de acuerdo con uno de los principios emblemáticos de la democracia mexicana: la propiedad nacional.^len^aThis article shows the institutionalization of the water rights in Mexico, from the problems generated in the Laguna region, regarding the Nazas River, at the end of the XIX century and in first half of the XX century, and as a result of a process of conflict-negotiation which was associated with the ideological principles and the institutional structures of the democracy model adopted by the country in 1824. The research covers two moments of this process: the end of the porfirista government, during which the public dominion of the main currents and water bodies was decreed, and the post-revolution, when the water rights became real according to one of the emblematic principles of the Mexican democracy: the national property.
