We document the first record of shipworm mollusk Spathoteredo spatha (Jeffreys, 1860) in Venezuelan coastal waters. Also, we present data about the distribution of the species in the Caribbean Sea.

Documentamos el primer registro del molusco perforador de madera Spathoteredo spatha (Jeffreys, 1860) en aguas de las costas de Venezuela. Además, se presentan algunos datos de la distribución de esta especie en el mar Caribe.
