Tras una revisión de la literatura sobre teoría de redes y redes de ciudades, se considera a las relaciones de red como el producto de la interacción espacial que se da entre las ciudades, estas interacciones se manifiestan a través de distintos flujos de orden material (población, mercancías, capital) e inmaterial (información). En este estudio, con datos sobre movimiento diario de pasajeros y con el apoyo del análisis de redes y el software Agraph, se identifica la estructura de la red de ciudades de la formación espacial ciudad región Eje cafetero del centro occidente colombiano, con revisión especial de las condiciones de integración y centralidad de dicho sistema urbano.

Based on a review of the literature about the theory of networks and city networks, network relationships are assumed as the product of the spatial interaction that takes place between cities. These interactions manifest through different flows of material order (population, goods, capital), and immaterial (information). Using data on daily passenger movement with the support of network analysis and Agraph software, the structure of the city networks of the spatial formation “City region Eje Cafetero” from the western center of Colombia is identified, with special review of integration and centrality conditions of that urban system.
