^les^aEste artículo constituye un estudio de la poesía negra uruguaya. Se pretende ante todo la divulgación de los temas así como su análisis, tratados por cinco poetas uruguayos del siglo XX, cuya producción, aunque limitada, es muy rica en documentación histórica y de gran valor literario. El orden de presentación es cronológico, según aparecen los poemas en la Antología de poetas negros uruguayos (1990). Aquí no nos proponemos abarcar toda la poesía (ni mucho menos los temas) escrita en el siglo XX por poetas negros uruguayos, sino mostrar la visión del mundo del poeta tal como la presenta en sus versos. Pretende ser, pues, sólo una muestra representativa del siglo.^len^aThis article offers a detailed study of Black Uruguayan poetry. It aims to highlight, and to analyze, the themes dealt with by five Uruguayan poets of the 20th century, whose output, while limited, is exceedingly rich in historical documentation and is of great literary value. The order followed is chronological, as the poems appear in the Antología de poetas negros uruguayos (1990). The aim is not to cover all the poetry (and much less the themes) written in the 20th century by Black Uruguayan poets, but rather to showcase the view of the poet’s world as revealed in their verses. Thus it aspires to offer merely a representative sample of the century.
