^len^aAttitudes and beliefs about the relationships between science-technology-society-environment (STSE) represent an important function on science teacher's view and in consequence the view transmitted to their students. This present work aims to identify beliefs and attitudes that chemistry students of the University of the State of Rio Grande do Norte - UERN - have about the theme. Starting by the emergent paradigm, it looks for elements from qualitative and quantitative paradigms to find evidences and it avoids the traditional separation Qualitative vs. Quantitative usually find on research in Science Education. We interviewed 48 chemistry students. A Likert scale and a questionnaire with open questions were used.^les^aLas actitudes y las creencias sobre las relaciones ciencia-tecnología-sociedad-ambiente desempeñan un papel relevante en la visión del profesor de ciencias y, por tanto, en la visión que transmite a sus estudiantes. Este trabajo pretende identificar las actitudes y creencias que tienen sobre el tema los estudiantes de la Universidad Estatal de Rio Grande del Norte -UERN. Al partir de la concepción del paradigma emergente, se buscan elementos de los paradigmas cualitativo y cuantitativo en la búsqueda de evitar la tradicional dicotomía cualitativo vs. Cuantitativo encontrada con frecuencia en la investigación en didáctica de las ciencias. Se entrevistaron 48 estudiantes de química y se emplearon cuestiones de la escala de Likert y un cuestionario con preguntas abiertas.
