^les^aEn este ensayo se estudian las relaciones entre dos fenómenos simultáneos e interrelacionados del siglo XIX, a saber: el romanticismo y el ocultismo, haciendo algunos deslindes teóricos (por ejemplo, la diferencia entre "esoterismo" como categoría general y "ocultismo" como categoría específica y moderna) y poniendo atención a la amplia producción literaria de autores ocultistas, en especial en los ámbitos de lo gótico y lo fantástico.^len^aThis essay studies the relations between two simultaneous and interrelated 19^th century currents: Romanticism and Occultism. Some theoretical disambiguations are made (e.g. the difference between "esotericism" as a general category and "occultism" as a specific and modern category). Special attention is paid to the extensive literary production of occultist authors, mainly in the fields of the gothic and the fantastic.
