^les^aEn 2009 celebramos el vigésimo aniversario de la Convención de los Derechos del Niño. Este tratado internacional establece que los menores tienen el derecho a no sufrir lesiones y a no ser maltratados, física o mentalmente. Este derecho reconoce, igualmente, cuando dicha violencia procede de los propios padres. Los Estados parte de la Convención están obligados a adaptar su legislación, prohibiendo toda forma de maltrato contra los menores. Recientemente, España ha reformado su Código Civil para desterrar la referencia al derecho que asistía a los progenitores para corregir moderada y razonablemente a los hijos. Desde la citada reforma, España es uno de los pocos países cuya legislación prohíbe, sin reservas, la violencia contra los niños, tanto en el hogar como fuera de él.^len^aThis year the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child will be celebrated.
