El cuerpo-cámara-ojo de Weiss se expande más allá de la visualidad e interrumpe la hegemonía escópica para intentar que aparezca aquello que no se ve. Las propuestas estéticas de Weiss se entrelazan con otros casos de estudio que, desde lugares muy dispares, han situado el cuerpo, su materialidad y sus afectos como elementos centrales de la experiencia epistémica y estética. El potencial del cuerpo histérico, la teoría estética de Lee y Anstruther-Thomson, o el problema de traducción cultural del término náhuatl ixiptlah, muestran otros modos de entender las imágenes, otras lógicas capaces de reinventar las formas en que miramos y somos miradas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Two works by the Mexican artist Pola Weiss (1947-1990) lead us to alternative ways of conceptualizing the aesthetic from the feminine/feminized body and the subversion of subject/object relationships. Weiss&#8217; body-camera-eye expands beyond visuality and interrupts scopic hegemony to attempt to reveal what cannot be seen. Weiss&#8217; aesthetic proposals are linked to other case studies which, from very different places, have made the body, its materiality and its affects, central elements of the epistemic and aesthetic experience. The potential of the hysterical body, the aesthetic theory of Lee and Anstruther-Thomson, and the problem of the cultural translation of the Nahuatl term ixiptlah, show other ways of understanding images, other logics capable of reinventing the ways we look and are looked at.]]></p></abstract>

O corpo-câmera-olho de Weiss se expande além da visualidade para interromper a hegemonia escópica e tentar revelar o que não é visto. As propostas estéticas de Weiss estão entrelaçadas com outros estudos de caso que, desde lugares muito distintos, colocaram o corpo, a sua materialidade e seus afetos como elementos centrais da experiência epistêmica e estética.
