En el presente estudio, se usó un diseño factorial 2×2, completamente aleatorio (cuatro tratamientos). Se evaluaron 134 becerras Holstein, donde el suministro de calostro se basó en la aceptación de la mamila. Posteriormente, 81 becerras fueron suministradas con sonda y 53 con mamila, y 24 horas después se usó un refractómetro para medir las inmunoglobulinas del suero (IgG, g dL-1). Otras variables de respuesta fueron ganancia de peso del nacimiento al destete (GPND, kg), ganancia de altura del nacimiento al destete (GAND, m), y frecuencias relativas de problemas respiratorios (PR) y de problemas digestivos (PD). No se encontraron diferencias ni interacciones significativas (P &gt; 0.05) entre tratamientos, solo tendencias: GPND en becerras de vacas multíparas, suministradas con sonda (49.35 kg), y GAND e IgG en becerras de vacas primíparas suministradas con mamila (0.1826 m y 6.3622 g dL-1), mostraron los mayores valores. Entre las frecuencias relativas, PR grado 2 (0.9463) y PD grado 3 (0.1976), fueron las más altas. En conclusión, no hubo efectos de paridad en las variables respuesta, y debido a la especialización del personal, tampoco se detectaron diferencias al suministrar calostro mediante sonda o con mamila. Es necesario realizar mayores estudios en otras unidades de producción para contrastar los resultados de esta investigación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the response of Holstein calves to parity and colostrum supply by teat or sonde at the Fresnedo dairy, Gómez Palacio, Durango. In the present study, a 2×2 factorial design, completely randomized (four treatments) was used. A total of 134 Holstein calves were evaluated, where colostrum supply was based on acceptance of the nipple. Subsequently, 81 calves were fed by gavage and 53 by nipple, and 24 hours later, a refractometer was used to measure serum immunoglobulins (IgG, g dL-1). Other response variables were birth to weaning weight gain (GPND, kg), birth to weaning height gain (GAND, m), and relative frequencies of respiratory problems (RP) and digestive problems (DP). No significant differences or interactions (P &gt; 0.05) were found between treatments, only trends: GPND in calves from multiparous cows, supplied with a tube (49.35 kg), and GAND and IgG in calves from primiparous cows supplied with a nipple (0.1826 m and 6.3622 g dL-1), showed the highest values. Among the relative frequencies, PR grade 2 (0.9463) and PD grade 3 (0.1976), were the highest. In conclusion, there were no parity effects in the response variables, and due to the specialization of the personnel, no differences were detected when colostrum was fed by tube or by nipple. Further studies in other production units are needed to contrast the results of this research.]]></p></abstract>
