Materiales y métodos:  Este trabajo de investigación tuvo un enfoque cualitativo, donde se tomó el instrumento de evaluación de Ibarra-Cisneros y Monroy-Ata (2014), el cual está diseñado para la cultura mexicana.  Resultados:  Los resultados arrojaron que el mayor componente de la HE es el transporte en ambos años y el de menor contribución el sector forestal. La HE calculada para el total de encuestados mostró que en el año 2022 con 2.41 hectáreas globales (hag) fue significativamente mayor que para 2023 con 1.99 hag. La HE con respecto al nivel educativo, para ambos años, fue mayor para los estudiantes de bachillerato y docentes. Los resultados de todos los niveles educativos se encuentran arriba de la biocapacidad del planeta (1.51 hag) para ese periodo.  Conclusiones:  Que el nivel educativo no está necesariamente asociado al tamaño de la HE, como sí podría estarlo el nivel adquisitivo. Los sectores transporte y energía fueron los que más contribuyeron con el impacto ambiental, ya que su dependencia casi exclusiva con los combustibles fósiles impacta directamente en la generación de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  Evaluate and compare the ecological footprint (EF) in different stages of academic training, during the years 2022 and 2023.  Materials and methods:  This research work had a qualitative approach, where the evaluation instrument of Ibarra-Cisneros and Monroy-Ata (2014) was taken, which is designed for Mexican culture.  Results:  The largest component of the EF is transportation in both years and the lowest contribution is the forestry sector. The EF calculated for the total number of respondents showed that in 2022 with 2.41 gha was significantly higher than for 2023 with 1.99 gha. The EF with respect to educational level, for both years, was higher for high school students and teachers, but not for undergraduate students. However, the results of all educational levels are above the biocapacity of the planet (1.51 gha) for that period.  Conclusions:  The purchasing power is related to HE and not necessarily the educational level. The transportation and energy sectors contributed the most to the environmental impact, since their almost exclusive dependence on fossil fuels directly impacts the generation of GHG.]]></p></abstract>
