<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-24222017000100105&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-24222017000100105&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-24222017000100105&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Se realizó una modelación con el programa WEAP para determinar el impacto de los escenarios de cambio climático RCP 4.5 y 8.5 en los recursos hídricos en el periodo 2015-2030 en el Valle de Galeana, Nuevo León. Se desarrollaron dos escenarios de adaptación: el primero considera una reducción en la demanda hídrica para uso agrícola por cambio de sistemas de riego gradual; el segundo contempla un plan hídrico integral para mejorar la capacidad de infiltración de la zona de recarga mediante programas de reforestación y recuperación de suelos. Los resultados muestran que la situación del acuífero con escenarios de cambio climático y con el uso actual del agua es crítica, pues en ambos escenarios se tendrían afectaciones importantes en el acuífero a partir de 2015, ocurriendo un mínima recarga hacia el acuífero de 0.96 y 1.5% con respecto a su capacidad total durante los meses de lluvia típicos (agosto y septiembre, respectivamente). Considerando el escenario de adaptación de cambio en sistemas de riego, se espera una ligera recuperación a partir del año 2023, alcanzando un máximo de recarga de 3.11 Mm3 en temporada de lluvia. Los resultados del plan hídrico integral, si bien no mantienen una recarga constante y positiva, sí muestran un volumen de recuperación de 27 Mm3, lo que representa 18.75% de la capacidad máxima de almacenamiento en el sistema; sin embargo, éste disminuye para el mes de diciembre, por lo que no es posible basar el desarrollo de la agricultura en las comunidades de la región con prácticas de alto consumo de agua.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: WEAP modeling was applied in order to identify the impact to water resources under CRP 4.5 and 8.5 climate change scenarios for the period of 2015-2030 in the Galeana Valley, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Two adaptation conditions were set, the first one considers that the demand of water for cropping is reduced due to improvements in irrigation systems, the second condition addresses a comprehensive plan to ensure infiltration capacity on the recharging area of the local aquifer through enhancement of plant cover and soil recovery. Results show that the condition of the aquifer under climate change scenarios and traditional use of water is critical, because both scenarios would allow a complete abatement of the aquifer by the year 2015 with minimum recharge of about 0.96 and 1.5% during typical rainy months -August and September, respectively. When considering the first scenario a retrieval is expected from the year 2023 on, reaching a maximum recharge of 3.11 Mm3 in the rainy season. Although yield from the comprehensive plan do not allow a positive and constant aquifer recharge, it does show a recovering volume of 27 Mm3, thus representing 18.75% of the maximum system storage capacity; nevertheless, that volume slows down by the end of the year. Such behavior does not permit the development of local communities on the basis of the current highly-consuming water use practices.]]></p></abstract>
