Material y métodos:  Se realizó una búsqueda en el Sistema de Información Médico Financiero (SIMEF) y el Subsistema Automatizado de Egresos Hospitalarios (SAEH), del 01 de julio de 2019 al 31 de agosto de 2022 y se incluyeron a los pacientes con evaluación ortopédica realizada en el Servicio de Urgencias del Hospital Regional &#8220;General Ignacio Zaragoza&#8221;, ISSSTE.  Resultados:  La luxación de grandes articulaciones fue la urgencia que más se presentó en 47.94%, seguida en segundo lugar por las fracturas expuestas en 44.32%, y después las artritis sépticas en tercer lugar con 6.28%. Por otro lado, las lesiones vasculares traumáticas y el síndrome compartimental tuvieron menor incidencia de forma considerable.  Conclusiones:  El identificar las principales urgencias ortopédicas que se presentan en centros de urgencias servirá como punto de partida para la atención, diagnóstico y tratamiento oportuno disminuyendo así la morbimortalidad de estas condiciones.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  An orthopedic emergency is the appearance of an acute lesion of the musculoskeletal system with a diverse etiology and variable severity. It can be potentially fatal if not treated in a timely manner.  Material and methods:  A search was carried out in the Medical Financial Information System (SIMEF) and the Automated Subsystem of Hospital Discharges (SAEH) from July 01, 2019, to August 31, 2022, and included patients with orthopedic evaluations performed in the Emergency Department of the Ignacio Zaragoza ISSSTE Regional Hospital.  Results:  Dislocation of large joints was the emergency that most occurred at 47.94%, followed in second place by open fractures at 44.32%, and later by septic arthritis in third place with 6.28%. On the other hand, traumatic vascular injuries and compartment syndrome had a considerably lower incidence.  Conclusions:  Identifying the main orthopedic emergencies that occur at emergency centers will serve as a starting point for care, diagnosis, and timely treatment, thus reducing the morbidity and mortality of these conditions.]]></p></abstract>
