Planteamos la imposibilidad de velocidad de grupo negativa en la segunda banda para un cristal fotónico dieléctrico unidimensional realizando un estudio sistemático de la variación de la velocidad de grupo en función del factor de llenado del cristal. Discutimos recientes reportes en donde existen malentendidos en la determinación de la velocidad de grupo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[In this work we presents an analysis of the group velocity in one dimensional photonic crystal based on the calculation of the Band Structure in the Extended Zone representation. The impossibility of negative group velocity in the second band is discussed by presenting a systematic variation of the filling fraction of the crystal. We discuss some recent reports where exist misunderstandings about the group velocity calculations in Photonic Crystals.]]></p></abstract>

<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2"><b>Resumen</b></font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">En este trabajo presentamos un an&aacute;lisis de la velocidad de grupo en cristales fot&oacute;nicos unidimensionales basado en un c&aacute;lculo de la estructura de bandas en la zona de Brillouin extendida. Planteamos la imposibilidad de velocidad de grupo negativa en la segunda banda para un cristal fot&oacute;nico diel&eacute;ctrico unidimensional realizando un estudio sistem&aacute;tico de la variaci&oacute;n de la velocidad de grupo en funci&oacute;n del factor de llenado del cristal.
