Se decidió adoptar un enfoque cualitativo y entrevistas semiestructuradas para la recolección de datos. Los resultados muestran que los principales estresores de los docentes son los grupos numerosos de estudiantes, la frecuencia de juntas académicas, el tiempo de traslado al trabajo y cumplir con el sentido de responsabilidad. Otros estresores fue ron la sobrecarga de responsabilidades, la diversidad de funciones y las atribuciones relacionadas con el &#8220;deber ser&#8221; un buen profesor. Se concluyó que los factores de estrés descritos son crónicos y que pueden repercutir en la salud física y psicológica de los docentes si no se modifican estas condiciones.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ Abstract This research describes the perceptions of nine teachers of the subject of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) of the General Basic Tra ining Area of the Universidad Veracruzana, about the causes of stress in their work environment. It was decided to adopt a qualitative approach and semi-structured interviews for data collection. The results show that the main stressors for teachers are the large groups of students, the frequency of academic meetings, commuting time to work, and fulfilling the sense of responsibility. Other stressors mentioned were the overload of responsibilities, the diversity of functions and the attributions related to the sense of duty. It was concluded that the stress factors described are chronic and that they can affect the physical and psychological health of teachers if these conditions are not modified.]]></p></abstract>
