Convencionalmente se aplican fungicidas químicos (prinipalmente mancozeb y clorotalonil), lo cual genera impacto negativo en el ambiente y organismos vivos no blanco. Se han buscado alternativas de biocontrol de la SN, donde ha resaltado el potencial del género Bacillus, con eficiencias de biocontrol de la SN entre 25 % y 33.6 %. Adicionalmente, algunos extractos vegetales como la mezcla de extracto de clavo (Zysygium aromaticum) y ajo (Allium sativum) mostraron 35 % de efectividad. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar el efecto de la inyección de Bacillus subtilis ANT01 en el sistema vascular de plantas de plátano &#8220;Macho&#8221; (Musa balbisiana, var. Chifle) sobre la severidad de la SN. El tratamiento más efectivo fue la aspersión foliar de extracto de ajo y clavo con Bacillus subtilis ANT01 (108 UFC mL-1) inyectado cada 14 d, ya que redujo la severidad en 58.1 % comparado con solamente asperjar los extractos de clavo y ajo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The Black Sigatoka (BS) is a disease caused by the fungus Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet, the main risk for plantain production. Conventionally, chemical fungicides are sprayed, which generates negative impacts on the environment and non-target organisms. Biological alternatives have been sought to control BS, and strains of the Bacillus genus have shown potential, ranking between 25 % and 33.6 % of biocontrol. Additionally, extracts from various plants have also shown potential for the control of BS and one of these is the mixture of clove (Sysygium aromaticum) and garlic (Allium sativum) extracts with 35 % of efficiency. The objective of this work was to determine the effect of injecting Bacillus subtilis in the vascular system of &#8220;macho&#8221; banana plants, on the severity of BS. The most effective treatment involved foliar spraying of garlic and clove extracts along with injection of Bacillus subtilis ANT01 (108 CFU mL-1) every 14 d, since reduced BS severity by 58.1 % compared to only spray the mixture of clove and garlic extracts.]]></p></abstract>
