El propósito de este trabajo es analizar las representaciones sociales que construye el profesorado del Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos, en Baja California, acerca de este tema y comparar las estrategias de afrontamiento al fracaso que promueve este sector con base en inserciones sociales como edad, género, antecedentes y ruta de actualización profesional. Con un enfoque cualitativo, se aplicó un cuestionario de asociación libre de palabras. Los resultados muestran que el afrontamiento a eventos académicos estresantes es dinámico y permite que las estrategias cambien a partir de una reevaluación continua. El profesorado destacó dos acciones principales: en el ámbito institucional, búsqueda de apoyo social caracterizada por la canalización de estudiantes a los servicios de apoyo escolar, y en el individual, afrontamiento directivo-revalorativo, al emprender procesos de formación continua.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Research that addresses perspectives and meanings of teachers about coping with student failure is limited. The purpose of this article is to analyze the social representations that CECyTE teachers in Baja California have about coping with school failure and compare the coping strategies for school failure promoted by this sector based on social insertions such as age, gender, background, and professional update path. From a qualitative approach, a questionnaire of free association of words was applied. The results show that coping with stressful academic events is dynamic and allows strategies to change based on continuous reassessment. Teachers highlighted two main coping strategies: At the institutional level, the search for social support characterized by channeling students to school support services, and at the individual level, directive-revaluation coping, undertaking continuous training processes.]]></p></abstract>
