(Burseraceae) es un grupo de árboles y arbustos caducifolios representativos de bosques tropicales secos que se caracterizan por producir resinas aromáticas que presentan propiedades farmacológicas importantes. El objetivo de esta investigación fue obtener extractos de la resina de Bursera fagaroides (Kunth) Engl., recolectada en Puebla, con disolventes de diferente polaridad, para identificar y cuantificar metabolitos secundarios, y evaluar su potencial antioxidante. Por medio de un muestreo dirigido se seleccionaron árboles adultos de B. fagaroides y se realizó una recolecta de resina solidificada. Luego la resina paso por una extracción secuencial con hexano, diclorometano y metanol para obtener extractos. Se obtuvo el rendimiento de los extractos y en ellos se identificaron y cuantificaron metabolitos secundarios por medio de técnicas colorimétricas y curvas estándar con moléculas de referencia. De igual manera, se analizó la actividad antioxidante de los extractos con el método 2,2-difenol-1-picrilhidrazilo (DPPH). El mayor rendimiento de extracto (990.0 ± 16.5 mg g-1 de resina) se obtuvo de la extracción con diclorometano (ED). En los extractos se identificaron terpenos, saponinas, fenoles y flavonoides. En el extracto de ED el rendimiento de terpenos fue de 638.2 ± 23.6 mg de equivalentes de ácido masticadienóico g-1 de extracto y en el extracto de extracción con metanol el rendimiento de fenoles fue de 19.9 ± 2.0 mg de equivalentes de ácido gálico g-1 de extracto. Los extractos no presentaron actividad antioxidante por el método de DPPH. Los extractos de la resina de Bursera fagaroides son una fuente de terpenos, saponinas, fenoles y flavonoides que no presentan propiedades antioxidantes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The genus Bursera Jacq. ex L. (Burseraceae) comprises a group of deciduous trees and shrubs characteristic of tropical dry forests, known for producing aromatic resins with important pharmacological properties. The aim of this study was to obtain resin extracts of Bursera fagaroides (Kunth) Engl., collected in Puebla, using solvents of varying polarity, to identify and quantify secondary metabolites, and to evaluate their antioxidant potential. Through targeted sampling, adult B. fagaroides trees were selected and solidified resin was collected. The resin was subjected to sequential extraction with hexane, dichloromethane, and methanol to obtain the extracts. Extraction yield was calculated, and secondary metabolites were identified and quantified using colorimetric techniques and standard curves with reference compounds. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was evaluated using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The highest extract yield (990.0 ± 16.5 mg g&#8315;¹ of resin) was obtained with dichloromethane (DCM extract). Terpenes, saponins, phenols, and flavonoids were identified in the extracts. The DCM extract yielded 638.2 ± 23.6 mg of masticadienoic acid equivalents per gram of extract in terpenes, while the methanol extract yielded 19.9 ± 2.0 mg of gallic acid equivalents per gram of extract in phenols. None of the extracts exhibited antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. The resin extracts of Bursera fagaroides are a source of terpenes, saponins, phenols, and flavonoids, but do not show antioxidant properties.]]></p></abstract>
