Por lo que el objetivo del estudio fue establecer la identidad y la naturaleza de los usos dados a las diferentes plantas conocidas localmente como camorreal. Se localizaron los sitios de crecimiento y el tipo de vegetación en donde se encuentran de forma natural. Se realizaron colectas botánicas de las especies a las que los pobladores llaman camorreal de forma indistinta, que se identificaron en el Herbario-Hortorio CHAPA del Colegio de Postgraduados, México. Además, se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a 62 personas de la comunidad, para documentar la forma en que son aprovechadas y los criterios que usan para diferenciarlas. Como resultado se estableció la identidad botánica de cinco especies de camorreal: Asclepias circinalis (Decne.) Woodson, Asclepias melantha Decne, Iostephane trilobata Hemsl, Lobelia hartwegii Benth. ex A.DC y Psacalium paucicapitatum (B.L.Rob. &amp; Greenm.) H.Rob. &amp; Brettell, todas asociadas a la vegetación pino-encino; todas con uso medicinal, de ellas, Lobelia hartwegii Benth. ex A.DC es la especie más importante con uso local para los pobladores de la comunidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract San Pedro El Alto is a community that belongs to the Zapotec ethnic group and has a great biological richness; its inhabitants have knowledge about the use of medicinal plants. The aim was establishing the identity and nature of the uses given to the different plants known locally as camorreal. The growth sites and the type of vegetation where they are found naturally were located. Botanical collections were made of the species that the villagers call camorreal indistinctly, which were identified in the CHAPA Herbarium-Hortory of the Colegio de Postgraduados, Mexico. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 62 people from the community to document the way in which they are used and the criteria they use to differentiate them. As a result, the botanical identity of five species of camorreal was established: Asclepias circinalis (Decne.) Woodson, Asclepias melantha Decne, Iostephane trilobata Hemsl, Lobelia hartwegii Benth. ex A.DC and Psacalium paucicapitatum (B.L.Rob. &amp; Greenm.)
