La fidelidad depende de la calidad háptica del simulador. El problema es si un simulador puede ser un instrumento cognoscitivo o si su papel se limita a adquirir destrezas manuales. Si a pesar de los simuladores, la tasa de fracaso en el examen del Consejo Mexicano de Cirugía General es cerca de 40%, el problema está en otra parte: en el seguimiento cuidadoso de los residentes a lo largo de los años de entrenamiento. Los simuladores no pueden sustituir al adiestramiento tutelado, uno a uno.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Surgical simulators do not represent reality faithfully due to technological and design limitations. Fidelity depends on the haptic quality of the simulator. The problem is whether they can be a cognitive instrument or if their role is limited to the acquisition of manual skills. If, despite the simulators, the National Surgical Board exam failure rate is about 40%, the problem is elsewhere: in the careful monitoring of residents over the years of training. Simulators cannot replace a supervised training, one-on-one.]]></p></abstract>
