Sin embargo, las condiciones externas determinan el nivel de intervención requerido, lo que permite segmentar el territorio según su impacto sobre las necesidades tecnológicas y de capital. El objetivo de este documento es clasificar los municipios de Hidalgo, México, según tres variables clave para la producción en invernadero: la altura sobre el nivel del mar, la proporción de superficie cultivada total con riego y la temperatura. Para lograrlo, se emplearon dos técnicas de aprendizaje automático: K-medias y K-medoides. Las variables consideradas ofrecen segmentaciones útiles para analizar la idoneidad de los municipios en el establecimiento de nuevas unidades. Adicionalmente, se encontraron relaciones significativas entre dichas variables y la superficie bajo invernadero en 2023. Se concluye que estos factores podrían emplearse en el diseño de futuras políticas públicas dirigidas a incrementar dicha superficie.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Greenhouse agriculture is viable under various environmental and geographical conditions through technological adaptations. However, external conditions determine the level of intervention required, allowing for territorial segmentation based on their impact on technological and capital needs. The objective of this research is to classify the municipalities of Hidalgo, Mexico, according to three key variables for greenhouse production: altitude above sea level, the proportion of total cultivated land with irrigation, and temperature. To achieve this, two machine learning techniques were employed: K-means and K-medoids. The selected variables provide useful segmentations to assess the suitability of municipalities for establishing new production units. Additionally, significant relationships were found between these variables and the cultivated greenhouse area in 2023. This paper concludes that these factors could be used in the design of future public policies aimed at expanding greenhouse-cultivated land.]]></p></abstract>
