La búsqueda de microorganismos con capacidad de tolerancia al compuesto tóxico genera un recurso importante como indicadores o incluso potenciales degradadores del compuesto. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la capacidad de resistencia y la máxima concentración de tolerancia al TBT de aislados bacterianos de los sedimentos de la Bahía de Manzanillo. Se inocularon bacterias en diferentes concentraciones de TBT (0.42, 0.82, 1.26, 2.5, 3.75, 5 y 7.5 mM). Las especies Cobetia sp., Pseudoalteromonas sp., Vibrio toranzoniae y V. alginolyticus demostraron tener la capacidad de tolerar 420 &#956;M, 820 &#956;M, 1.26 mM, 2.5 mM, 3.75 mM, siendo esta última la concentración más alta. Nuestros resultados aportan información necesaria para evaluar si las bacterias tolerantes al TBT pueden reducir el compuesto a metabolitos menos tóxicos y facilitar la biorremediación de los ecosistemas contaminados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Tributyltin (TBT) is a highly toxic and persistent compound representing a series of environmental risks, mainly in the sediments of maritime ports. The search for microorganisms that can tolerate the toxic compound generates an important resource as indicators or even potential degraders of the compound. This work aimed to evaluate the resistance capacity and the maximum concentration of tolerance to TBT of bacterial strains isolated from the sediments of Manzanillo Bay. Strains were inoculated at different TBT concentrations (0.42, 0.82, 1.26, 2.5, 3.75, 5 y 7.5 mM). Cobetia sp., Pseudoalteromonas sp., Vibrio toranzoniae, and V. alginolyticus are species that showed the ability to resist 420 &#956;M, 820 &#956;M, 1.26 mM, 2.5 mM, 3.75 mM, the last one being the highest concentration. Our results provide the necessary information to evaluate whether TBT-tolerant bacteria could reduce the compound to less toxic metabolites and be potential for the bioremediation of contaminated ecosystems.]]></p></abstract>
