C. MacMillan por el desarrollo de la organocatálisis asimétrica. El propósito de este artículo es explicar de qué se trata esta herramienta sintética, historia previa a la invención de la organocatálisis y los trabajos que iniciaron este campo por la activación vía enamina e iminio descubiertas por los galardonados al Nobel. Adicionalmente, se menciona la catálisis por enlace de hidrógeno y bifuncional. Se ilustra el alcance de la organocatálisis en la síntesis de los antivirales letermovil y oseltamivir y una sugerencia de cómo incluir la organocatálisis en los cursos de licenciatura.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Benjamin List and David W. C. MacMillan for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis. The purpose of this article is to explain this synthetic tool, history before the invention of organocatalysis, and the works that initiated this field by the enamine and iminium activation discovered by the Nobel laureates. Additionally, hydrogen bond catalysis and bifunctional catalysis are mentioned. The scope of organocatalysis in the synthesis of the antivirals letermovil and oseltamivir and a suggestion of how to include organocatalysis in undergraduate courses is illustrated.]]></p></abstract>
