Para ello, se analizaron los fenómenos de histéresis derivados de la relación concentración de sedimentos en suspensión y caudal, medidos ambos en la salida de la cuenca. Se inspeccionó visualmente la cuenca con el fin de obtener información directa de las fuentes de sedimentos. Los eventos estudiados se produjeron en otoño, periodo durante el cual algunas parcelas de la cuenca se encontraban desprovistas de vegetación. La mayor parte de los eventos produjeron fenómenos de histéresis positivos, es decir, el pico de sedimentos se produce antes o junto con el pico de caudal. La inspección visual de la cuenca permite concluir que, durante el periodo de estudio, la principal fuente de sedimentos en suspensión corresponde a regueros o canalillos y cárcavas efímeras formadas en la cabecera de la cuenca, en una parcela limítrofe con el arroyo, que se halla desprovista de vegetación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This work attempts to identify the source of suspended sediment caused by seven rainfall events in a small river basin located in NW of Spain used sediment agroforestry. Water discharge and suspended sediment concentrations were measured during these rainfall events at the catchment outlet and hysteretic loops of the relationship suspended sediment concentration versus discharge were established. In addition, within the catchment regular surveys were conducted in order to obtain data on the suspended sediment sources. The events studied occurred in autumn, a period during which some plots of the basin were without vegetation. In most of the events clockwise hysteresis loops were described, the sediment peaks occurred prior to or with peaks discharge. Field observations indicated that sediment discharged from the rills and ephemeral gullies, formed in a bare field located in the head of the catchment, represents the most important source of suspended sediment in this catchment during the study period.]]></p></abstract>
