Método: Se analizaron 52 ojos de 52 pacientes operados con sutura de lente intraocular, con seguimiento de 50.3 ± 71.4 meses. Se analizaron las causas de la cirugía, la agudeza visual mejor corregida, las complicaciones a corto y largo plazo, la presión intraocular y la longitud axial. Los datos recabados fueron analizados mediante las pruebas t de Student, t pareada, Wilcoxon, U de Mann-Whitney y chi cuadrada.  Resultados: La patología de base más frecuente fue traumatismo ocular (23.5%), seguido de pseudoexfoliación (7.8%). Al momento quirúrgico, la mayoría mostraron una subluxación de lente intraocular (45.1%) o afaquia (35.2%). Las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron hipertensión ocular (23%) y glaucoma (28.8%). Previo a la cirugía, solo el 17.3% utilizaban medicamento hipotensor, mientras que el 38.5% lo requerían en el último control (p = 0.01). La agudeza visual mejor corregida prequirúrgica fue 0.82 ± 0.55, y en el último control fue 0.44 ± 0.33 (p = 0.003); sin embargo, no hubo diferencias significativas entre los que tuvieron complicaciones posquirúrgicas en general (p = 0.17).  Conclusiones: Para lograr el mejor resultado posible son necesarios el manejo multidisciplinario, la selección de los pacientes y la elección de la técnica quirúrgica con más experiencia por parte del cirujano. Se debe mantener un estricto control de la presión intraocular, ya que existe un aumento significativo en el porcentaje de pacientes que requerirán tratamiento posterior.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective: Long term-analysis of outcomes and complications in patients with scleral-fixated intraocular lenses. Determine the incidence of glaucoma and identify risk factors that might increase morbidity.  Method: 52 eyes of 52 patients were analyzed during 50.3 ± 71.4 months. Best corrected visual acuity, short- and long-term complications, intraocular pressure and axial length were analyzed. Student&#8217;s t, paired t, Wilcoxon, U-Mann-Whitney and Chi squared tests were used for statistical analysis.  Results: The most common underlying pathology was ocular trauma (23.5%), followed by pseudoexfoliation (7.8%). Most of the patients demonstrated lens subluxation (45.1%) or aphakia (35.2%) at the time of the surgery. The most frequent complications were ocular hypertension (23%) and glaucoma (28.8%). Prior to surgery, only 17.3% used hypotensive medication, while 38.5% required it at the last control (p = 0.01). The preoperative best corrected visual acuity was 0.82 ± 0.55, and in the last control was 0.44 ± 0.33 (p = 0.003); however, there were no significant differences between those who had postoperative complications in general (p = 0.17).  Conclusions: Multidisciplinary management, patient selection and the choice of the most experienced surgical technique by the surgeon are necessary to achieve the best possible result. Strict control of intraocular pressure must be maintained, since there is a significant increase in the percentage of patients who will require further treatment.]]></p></abstract>
