Los SNEDDS están constituidos por una fase oleosa, un tensoactivo y un cotensoactivo dando lugar a una mezcla isotrópica, la cual forma nanoemulsiones al entrar en contacto con los fluidos intestinales. En la literatura, se resalta la importancia de los SNEDDS para el desarrollo de nuevas formulaciones con FPSA. Los SNEDDS han demostrado ser formulaciones nanotecnológicas capaces de superar los desafíos asociados con la escasa solubilidad acuosa, la baja absorción y la limitada biodisponibilidad de FPSA, mejorando así las aplicaciones terapéuticas. Adicionalmente, el proceso de manufactura es escalable y no involucra la inversión en equipo sofisticado a diferencia de otros sistemas nanoestructurados, como liposomas o nanopartículas poliméricas. Una propuesta con resultados novedosos para la formulación de praziquantel es el uso de SNEDDS, tecnología farmacéutica de vanguardia para mejorar significativamente la solubilidad y velocidad de disolución, manteniendo al fármaco nanodispersado y así favorecer su absorción gastrointestinal. Las tendencias en la modificación de SNEDDS incluyen su aplicación en nuevos tratamientos especializados, como la terapia génica, y la combinación con otros nanoacarreadores para superar limitaciones en estabilidad y eficacia. Los SNEDDS, impulsados por los avances en nanotecnología, no solo representan un avance en la formulación farmacéutica, sino que también marcan un camino hacia la mejora de la salud del paciente, destacándose como una clave para el futuro de la nanomedicina.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS) are nanotechnology-based pharmaceutical formulations of great interest for poorly water-soluble drugs (PWSD). SNEDDS comprises an oily phase, a surfactant, and a cosurfactant that gives rise to an isotropic mixture capable of forming nanoemulsions when they meet intestinal fluids. A vast amount of information in the literature highlights the importance of SNEDDS for the development of new formulations with PWSD. Through the application of nanotechnology, SNEDDS have proven to be formulations capable of overcoming the challenges associated with poor aqueous solubility, low absorption and low bioavailability of drugs, improving the therapeutic applications in which this nanotechnology has been used. Additionally, the scale-up of the manufacturing process is possible and does not involve investment in sophisticated equipment, unlike other nanostructured systems such as liposomes or polymeric nanoparticles. A novel approach to formulating praziquantel is the use of SNEDDS, a cutting-edge pharmaceutical technology that significantly improves solubility and dissolution rate. This technology keeps the drug nano-dispersed to promote gastrointestinal absorption. Trends in SNEDDS modification include their application in new specialized treatments, such as gene therapy, and combination with other nanocarriers to overcome limitations in stability and efficacy. SNEDDS, driven by advances in nanotechnology, not only represents a breakthrough in pharmaceutical formulation but also points a way towards improving patient health, standing out as a key to the future of nanomedicine.]]></p></abstract>
