La madera de chacteviga (Caesalpinia platyloba S. Watson) tiene gran valor comercial para la industria del aserrio. Las relaciones alométricas describen en forma cuantitativa los cambios de dimensión relativa de dos variables de un mismo individuo. El objetivo del estudio, fue ajustar relaciones alométricas para predecir variables de interés comercial como el diámetro normal (d), altura total (h), diámetro de copa (dc) y volumen (v) en función del diámetro del tocón (dt) y d de chacteviga en el centro y sur del estado de Quintana Roo. Los datos dasometricos de 316 árboles se ajustaron por el método de máxima verosimilitud con Proc Model en SAS® a 14 modelos que predicen variables en función del dt y d. Para selecciónar los modelos, se verificaron los indicadores de bondad de ajuste de la raíz del cuadrado medio del error y el coeficiente de determinación ajustado, nivel de confiabilidad de los estimadores (p = 0.05), supuestos de normalidad, heterosedasticidad y autocorrelación de los residuos con la prueba de Shapiro Wilk, de manera grafica en la distribución de residuales y el indicador de Durbin Watson, respectivamente. Los modelos de tipo potencial y Schumacher explicaron entre 50.9 y 99.0% del d, h, dc y v. Los valores en los sesgos y la diferencia agregada en porcentaje mostraron que las ecuaciones son confiables y pueden utilizarse para la cuantificación y evaluación de talas ilegales, afectaciones en caso de desastres naturales, apoyo en los inventarios forestales, elaboración de planes de manejo forestal y evaluación de tratamientos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT. Chacteviga wood (Caesalpinia platyloba S. Watson) is of great commercial value to the sawmill industry. Allometric relationships quantitatively describe the changes in the relative dimension of two variables of the same individual. The objective of this study was to adjust allometric relationships to predict variables of commercial interest such as normal diameter (d), total height (h), crown diameter (dc) and volume (v) as a function of stump diameter (dt) y d from chacteviga in the center and south of Quintana Roo. Dasometric data from 316 trees were adjusted using the maximum likelihood method with Proc Model in SAS® to 14 models that predict variables based on dt and d. For the selection of the models, the indicators of goodness of fit of the root of the mean square of the error and the adjusted coefficient of determination, the level of reliability of the estimators (p = 0.05), assumptions of normality, heterosedasticity and autocorrelation of the residuals were verified with the Shapiro test. Wilk, graphically in the distribution of residuals and the Durbin Watson indicator, respectively. The potential type and Schumacher models explained between 50.9 and 99.0% of the d, h, dc and v. The values in the biases and the added difference in percentage showed that the equations are reliable and can be used for the quantification and evaluation of illegal logging, effects in the event of natural disasters, support in forest inventories, preparation of forest management plans and evaluation of treatments.]]></p></abstract>
