<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-42982016000100075&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-42982016000100075&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-42982016000100075&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: El objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer la estructura, heterogeneidad de estadios y el patrón de dispersión espacial de diez poblaciones de Dioon holmgrenii, especie en peligro de extinción y endémica al sur de Oaxaca, con fines de conservación. Se establecieron once y nueve unidades de muestreo en sitios sin cambio aparente y con cambio de uso de suelo, respectivamente. Los individuos se clasificaron en reproductivos y no reproductivos, y en cada uno los estadios de desarrollo. La densidad promedio de individuos fue mayor en sitios sin cambio aparente que en sitios con cambio (782 vs. 353 plantas ha-1). En sitios sin cambio aparente se determinó alta proporción de plántulas y adultos, y escasos juveniles y pre-reproductivos; en sitios con cambio se encontró alto porcentaje de adultos, baja proporción de plántulas, juveniles y pre-reproductivos. La heterogeneidad de estadios fue mayor en sitios sin cambio aparente que sitios con cambio (H´ = 1.57 vs. 1.38, P = 0.048). La semejanza dentro de sitios sin cambio aparente (I  M-H = 0.93, IS  ct = 0.81) y dentro de los sitios con cambio (I  M-H = 0.83, IS  ct = 0.61) fue mayor que entre ambas condiciones (I  M-H = 0.70, IS  ct = 0.53). El patrón de dispersión espacial de los individuos fue principalmente agregada (65 %). Los individuos reproductivos y no reproductivos se distribuyeron en agregados en 12 y 14 de 20 unidades de muestreo, respectivamente. Los resultados muestran que la agricultura y el pastoreo afectan en la estructura, heterogeneidad de estadios y dispersión espacial; esto debe considerarse en el manejo futuro de las poblaciones.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: The aims of this research were to determine the structure, heterogeneity of stages, and spatial dispersion pattern of ten populations of Dioon holmgrenii, an endangered species endemic to southern Oaxaca, for conservation purpose. Eleven and nine sampling units were established in conditions without apparent land use change and change in land use, respectively. The developed stages were identified in non-reproductive and reproductive plants, and inside each of them the development stages. The average density of individuals was higher in conditions without apparent land use change (782 plants ha-1) than in change in land use (353 plants ha-1). High percentage of seedlings and adults was occurring in conditions without apparent land use, and low pre-reproductive and juveniles; however, high percentage of adults and low percentage of seedlings, saplings and pre-reproductive were found in condition change in land use. The heterogeneity of stages was higher (P = 0.048) under conditions without apparent land use change (H&#8217; = 1.57) than with change in land use (H&#8217; = 1.38). The similarity was higher in conditions without apparent land use change (I  M-H = 0.93, IS  CT = 0.81) and within change in land use (I  M-H = 0.83, IS  CT = 0.61) than among both conditions (I  M-H = 0.70, IS  CT = 0.53). The spatial dispersion pattern of individuals was primarily aggregate (65 %). Reproductive and non-reproductive individuals were distributed in aggregates 12 and 14 out of 20 sampling units, respectively. The results show that agriculture and grazing affect the structure, heterogeneity of stages and the spatial dispersion pattern; so these should be considered in the future management of populations.]]></p></abstract>
