El análisis muestra que los directivos se conforman en su acción a los principios de la nueva gestión pública, a la vez que manifiestan críticas en torno al uso de nuevos indicadores, con independencia de su institución. El artículo finaliza con un resumen e identifica posibles áreas de estudio sobre el tema.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Este artigo analisa os efeitos da internalização das ideias da nova gestão pública entre os diretores das universidades chilenas, analisando tanto sua interpretação desse processo quanto as principais tensões que percebem na implementação dos novos sistemas internos de monitoramento e prestação de contas. A análise mostra que os gestores se conformam em sua atuação com os princípios da nova gestão pública, ao mesmo tempo em que expressam críticas sobre o uso de novos indicadores, independentemente de sua instituição. O artigo termina com um resumo e identifica possíveis áreas de estudo sobre o tema.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article examines the effects of the internalization of the ideas of new public management among Chilean university managers, analyzing both their interpretation of this process and the main tensions they perceive in the implementation of the new internal monitoring and accountability systems. The analysis shows that managers actually adhere in their actions to the principles of the new public management, while also expressing some criticism about the use of new indicators, regardless of institution they belong to. The article concludes with a summary and identifies possible areas of study on the subject.]]></p></abstract>
