Para conocer el panorama de los procesos de desconcentración de las UA se generó una base de datos con información de las páginas web de las universidades y el Anuario Estadístico 2014-2015, así como datos sociodemográficos de los municipios sede, disponibles en las bases del Consejo Nacional de Población, el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía y la Secretaría de Educación Pública. En los resultados se muestra un panorama nacional de la ampliación de la oferta de ES, a través de las sedes desconcentradas de las UA. Además, se analizan 36 casos en los que las sedes de las UA son la única opción para ingresar a la ES. El análisis de la información muestra que, en los municipios con poca oferta de ES, las sedes benefician a jóvenes de municipios mayormente agrícolas y con bajos niveles de escolaridad; sin embargo, los datos sugieren que estas sedes operan por debajo de su capacidad y que tienen dificultades para asegurar la permanencia de los alumnos y la conclusión exitosa de sus estudios.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo: Uma das estratégias geradas pelo governo, para aumentar a oferta e cobertura de educação superior (ES) no México, tem sido a desconcentração das universidades autônomas (UA). Para conhecer o panorama dos processos de desconcentração das UA, gerou-se uma base de dados com informações das páginas web das universidades e do Anuário Estatístico 2014-2015, assim como dados sócio-demográficos dos municípios sede, disponíveis nas bases do Consejo Nacional de Población, do Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía e da Secretaría de Educación Pública. Nos resultados mostra-se um panorama nacional da ampliação da oferta de ES, através das sedes desconcentradas das UA. Também, se analisam 36 casos nos que as sedes das UA são a única opção para ingressar na ES. As análises das informações mostram que, nos municípios com pouca oferta de ES, as sedes beneficiam a jovens de municípios predominantemente agrícolas e com baixos níveis de escolaridade; porém, os dados sugerem que estas sedes operam por baixo de sua capacidade e que têm dificuldades para garantir a permanência dos alunos e a conclusão exitosa de seus estudos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: One of the strategies implemented by the Mexican government in order to increase the educational offer and coverage in higher education (HE) in Mexico has been the decentralization of the autonomous universities (AU). In order to obtain an overall view of the decentralization processes of the AU, the author created a database with information gathered from the websites of the diverse universities and the Statistical Yearbook 2014-2015, together with sociodemographical information from the towns available in the database of the National Population Service (Consejo Nacional de Población), the National Institute for Statistics and Geography (Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Geografía, INEGI ) and the Public Education Ministery (Secretaría de Educación Pública). The results show the national state of how HE supply has been increased by means of the decentralized seats. In addition to this, 36 cases are analyzed in which the seats of the AU are the only way to acceed to HE. This analysis shows that in towns with low he offer the seats are in benefit to young people who come from rural towns or villages with low education levels. Nevertheless the data show that those decentralized seats are working below capacity and that they often experience difficulties to guarantee that students keep in school and that they successfully complete their studies.]]></p></abstract>
