<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-09342024000400109&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-09342024000400109&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-09342024000400109&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Dada la necesidad de hacer un uso eficiente de los recursos destinados a la investigación experimental en el cultivo de caña de azúcar, se planteó esta investigación con el objetivo de determinar el tamaño óptimo de la parcela experimental en el cultivo de caña de azúcar en la región Brunca de Costa Rica. Durante la zafra 2018-2019 se estableció un ensayo experimental de uniformidad y se compararon cinco métodos: método de curvatura máxima, curvatura máxima del coeficiente de variación, regresión lineal con constante, regresión cuadrática con constante y método de máxima distancia. Los resultados indican que los estimadores más eficientes se obtuvieron con los modelos que consideran todos los tamaños y formas del ensayo de uniformidad (n=63). Los modelos de regresión segmentada y regresión lineal con constante produjeron los mejores estimadores del tamaño óptimo de la parcela experimental: 72.16 y 93.22 m2, respectivamente. Con los otros tres métodos se obtuvieron diferencias considerables e inconsistentes en los tamaños de la parcela experimental. Con los métodos método de curvatura máxima y curvatura máxima del coeficiente de variación los resultados fueron tan pequeños: 14.01 y 12.5 m2 respectivamente, que resultan inadecuados para realizar la investigación en caña de azúcar, por el contrario, con el método de máxima distancia el tamaño obtenido fue 157.48 m2, ineficiente estadística y económicamente. Por lo tanto, los modelos regresión lineal con constante y regresión cuadrática con constante, son apropiados para la determinación del tamaño de parcela experimental en caña de azúcar. Se concluyó que el tamaño recomendable a utilizar en la zona es 72 m2. Esta investigación fue finalizada en diciembre de 2021.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Given the need to make efficient use of the resources allocated to experimental research in sugarcane crops, this research was proposed with the aim of determining the optimal size of the experimental plot in sugarcane crops in the Brunca region of Costa Rica. During the 2018-2019 harvest, an experimental uniformity trial was established, and five methods were compared: maximum curvature method, maximum curvature of the coefficient of variation, linear regression with constant, quadratic regression with constant and maximum distance method. The results indicate that the most efficient estimators were obtained with models that consider all sizes and forms of the uniformity trial (n=63). Segmented regression and linear regression with constant models produced the best estimators of the optimal size of the experimental plot: 72.16 and 93.22 m2, respectively. With the other three methods, considerable and inconsistent differences in the sizes of the experimental plot were obtained. With the methods of maximum curvature and maximum curvature of the coefficient of variation, the results were so small: 14.01 and 12.5 m2, respectively, that they are inadequate to carry out research in sugarcane; on the contrary, with the method of maximum distance, the size obtained was 157.48 m2, statistically and economically inefficient. Therefore, the linear regression with constant and quadratic regression with constant models are appropriate for determining the experimental plot size in sugarcane. It was concluded that the recommended size to be used in the area is 72 m2. This research was completed in December 2021.]]></p></abstract>
