Atypical fibromuscular dysplasia of the bulb or CW is a non-atheromatous pathology involved in the appearance of cerebral infarctions of unknown causes. Carotid CW is defined as a shelf-shaped linear filling defect in the posterior aspect of the bulb of the internal carotid artery by angiotomography or ultrasound and is increasingly recognized as a cause of recurrent stroke and/or TIA, usually cryptogenic, but the evidence remains scarce. Treatment with antiplatelet prevents strokes, but radical treatment remains surgical and/or endovascular.
</abstract>
