El objetivo de este trabajo es aumentar la concentración de los iones Ca++ en la zeolita con el fin de mejorar la adsorción de N2 cuando se utiliza como carga en la preparación de membranas híbridas, para su posible aplicación en la separación de mezclas de gases. En la primer etapa, la estructura química de la zeolita natural se caracterizó por espectroscopía de infrarrojo por transformada de Fourier (FTIR) y su estabilidad térmica por análisis termogravimétrico (TGA). La zeolita se modificó con una solución de CaCl2 para reemplazar cationes Na+ por Ca++ en la superficie, y las muestras se caracterizaron por análisis cuantitativo mediante absorción atómica y análisis semi-cuantitativo comparativo por microscopía electrónica de barrido con espectrómetro de energía dispersiva (SEM-EDX). Los resultados muestran que la modificación química se llevó a cabo en la superficie externa, así como en las cavidades internas de la estructura de la zeolita.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This research shows the chemical modification of natural Clinoptilolite Zeolite that is produced in Mexico. The aim of this work is to increase the Ca++ ions concentration, in order to improve the N2adsorption when this zeolite is used as filler in the preparation of hybrid membranes, with possible application in gas mixtures separation. At the first step, chemical bonding vibrations of the natural Zeolite were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and its thermal stability by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). Clinoptilolite Zeolite was modified with CaCl2 solution to replace Na+ for Ca++ cations into the Zeolite microstructure. The modified samples were characterized by quantitative analyses using atomic absorption and a comparative semi-quantitative analysis by scanning electron microscopy with spectrometer of energy dispersive (SEM-EDS). The result shows that the chemical modification was obtained in the external surface as well as in the internal cavities of the zeolite.]]></p></abstract>
