De naturaleza cualitativa y de alcance exploratorio, se aplicaron encuestas con preguntas abiertas a 487 estudiantes universitarios; 184 españoles del área de ciencias de la salud y 303 mexicanos de distintas áreas de conocimiento. Los resultados señalan que, independientemente del país, casi el 68% de las menciones a factores que los estudiantes consideran claves para su aprendizaje están relacionadas con el perfil del profesor. Destacan las siguientes competencias docentes: comunicación clara y segura, actitud entusiasta y empatía con los estudiantes. Asimismo, las prácticas docentes que los universitarios consideraron más relevantes son: vinculación de la teoría y la práctica, clases dinámicas e interactivas, y uso de experiencias reales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This study aims to identify, from the university student&#8217;s perspective, the most important characteristics of the professor as a facilitator of the learning process. Using qualitative and exploratory techniques, we applied surveys with open answer questions to 487 university students: 184 Spanish students in the field of health sciences, and 487 Mexican students in various fields. The results indicate that, regardless of the country, almost 68% of the references to factors that the students consider fundamental to their learning are related to the professor profile. The following competencies of the instructor are particularly important: clear and confident communication, enthusiastic attitude and empathy with the students. Additionally, the teacher practices that the students considered most relevant are: linking theory and practice, dynamic and interactive classes and the use of real experiences.]]></p></abstract>
