El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar el potencial agronómico y de calidad de frutos de 53 líneas F5 de tomate de hábito de crecimiento determinado y fruto tipo saladette, derivadas de poblaciones nativas, en un sistema hidropónico e invernadero, para su posible uso comercial y en mejoramiento genético. Para ello, las líneas y la variedad comercial Rio Grande se evaluaron durante dos ciclos de producción (años 2020 y 2021) en un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones. Se registró información fenológica, características físicas y de calidad de fruto, así como el número y peso total de frutos por planta. Se efectuaron análisis de varianza como series de experimentos, así como comparaciones de medias (Tukey, P &#8804; 0.05) y análisis de correlaciones de Pearson. Se detectaron diferencias (P &#8804; 0.05) entre líneas en días a floración y a madurez, longitud, diámetro, peso, firmeza, contenido de sólidos solubles, número y peso total de frutos. Se identificaron líneas sobresalientes en precocidad, rendimiento y variables de calidad de frutos que las hacen aptas para consumo en fresco y procesamiento industrial. La línea 21002 fue superior a la variedad comercial Río Grande (P &#8804; 0.05) con 38 % más de rendimiento, misma que podría utilizarse como nueva variedad comercial o como fuente de germoplasma.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a crop of great economic and social importance in Mexico; however, the generation of new national varieties is scarce. The objective of this research was to evaluate the agronomic and quality potential of fruits of 53 F5 saladette-type lines of determined growth habit tomato, derived from native populations, in a hydroponic and greenhouse system, for possible commercial use and genetic improvement. For this purpose, the lines and the commercial variety Rio Grande were evaluated during two production cycles (years 2020 and 2021), in a randomized complete block experimental design with three replications. Phenological information, physical characteristics and fruit quality were recorded, as well as the number and total weight of fruits per plant. Analyses of variances were carried out as series of experiments, also, comparisons of means (Tukey, P &#8804; 0.05) and Pearson correlations analysis were performed. Differences (P &#8804; 0.05) were detected between lines in days to flowering and maturity, length, diameter, weight, firmness, soluble solids content, number and total weight of fruits. Outstanding lines were identified in earliness, yield and fruit quality variables that make them suitable for fresh consumption and industrial processing. Line 21002 was superior to the commercial variety Rio Grande (P &#8804; 0.05) with 38 % more yield, which could be used as a new commercial variety or as a source of germplasm.]]></p></abstract>
