<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0187-57792024000100139&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0187-57792024000100139&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0187-57792024000100139&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: El enfoque etnoedafológico es relevante, primero, porque se rescata el conocimiento local ancestral sobre el suelo y demás recursos relacionados, tanto para diferenciar y evaluar las tierras/suelos de un área, como para reconocer la veracidad de las opiniones del agricultor sobre la calidad del suelo, sus propiedades y características, así como de las prácticas agrícolas y su organización para el aprovechamiento del agua. Los agricultores del ejido San Juan y San Agustín, Jocotitlán, Estado de México clasifican a sus tierras en cinco tipos: barro (Vertisols), blanca (Umbrisols), revuelta (Phaeozems), colorada (Cambisols) y tepetate (Regosols) con base en su textura, color, contenido de humedad y porosidad. La tierra barro la definen como la de mejor calidad cuando las condiciones climáticas son óptimas; sin embargo, dado el comportamiento del clima en los últimos años, las tierras blanca y colorada son también una buena opción. Los agricultores indican que la principal limitación, para la producción en todas sus tierras, es la disminución de la precipitación; además, consideran importante el trabajo dedicado en la labranza y el recurso económico invertido para tener una idea del rendimiento promedio de cada clase de tierra. Científicamente se encontraron discrepancias con la clasificación reportada por instituciones oficiales en cuanto a grupos de suelo, así como los datos sobre los usos del suelo y la vegetación. Considerando que, por el nivel de detalle y la importancia del conocimiento local, resulta recomendable considerarlo en la planeación del desarrollo del sector agrícola.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: The ethnopedological approach is relevant, first, because ancestral local soil knowledge, and other related resources knowledge is rescued, as well as to differentiate and evaluate the lands/soils of an area, and to recognize the veracity of the farmer&#8217;s opinions about the quality of the soil, its properties and characteristics, as well as agricultural practices and their organization for the water use. The farmers of the ejido San Juan y San Agustín, Jocotitlán, State of Mexico identified five types of land: barro (Vertisols), (Umbrisols), revuelta (Phaeozems), colorada (Cambisols) y tepetate (Regosols), taking into account texture, color, moisture content and porosity. They define tierra barro as the best when climatic conditions are optimal, and tierra blanca and colorada as the best option considering the behavior of the climate in recent years, since farmers report that the main limitation for production in the five classes of land, is the decrease in precipitation. In addition to the presence of rain, they give a lot of weight to the work done and the economic resources invested to have an idea of the average yield of a type of land. Scientifically, discrepancies were found with the classification reported by official institutions regarding soil groups, as well as data on land use and vegetation. Considering that, due to the level of detail and the importance of local knowledge, it is advisable to consider it in the planning of its development.]]></p></abstract>
