Objetivo: Determinar la proporción de casos BI-RADS 4 y 5 en mastografías realizadas posterior a las restricciones por la COVID-19 comparadas con las del año 2019.  Material y métodos: Estudio observacional, transversal y comparativo de pacientes con mastografías BI-RADS 4 o 5 tras las restricciones por la COVID-19 comparadas con las del año 2019 en una unidad de medicina familiar.  Resultados: De un total de 5 945 mastografías, se realizaron 2 415 en 2019 y 3 530 en 2022. En 2019, 69 fueron BI-RADS &gt; 4 (2.85%) y en 2022 aumentaron a 175 (4.95%) (p = 0.001). Este incremento fue proporcional para todos los grupos etarios (p &lt; 0.045).  Conclusiones: Hubo un 73% más mastografías clasificadas como BI-RADS 4 o 5 en el año posterior a la pandemia, en comparación con el año previo a ella.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Background: In 2020, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 a pandemic, suspending screening programs, affecting timely detection of breast cancer worldwide, leading to an increase in cases in the post-pandemic period.  Objective: To determine the proportion of BI-RADS 4 and 5 cases in mammograms performed after COVID-19 restrictions compared to those in 2019.  Materials and methods: Observational, cross-sectional, and comparative study of patients with BI-RADS 4 or 5 mammograms after COVID-19 restrictions compared to those in 2019 at a family medicine unit.  Results: Out of a total of 5 945 mammograms, 2 415 were performed in 2019 and 3 530 in 2022. In 2019, 69 were classified as BI-RADS &gt; 4 (2.85%), and in 2022 this increased to 175 (4.95%) (p = 0.001). This increase was proportional for all age groups (p &lt; 0.045).  Conclusions: A 73% increase in mammograms classified as BI-RADS 4 or 5 was observed in the year following the pandemic, compared to the year before it.]]></p></abstract>
