Sin embargo, cualquier simulador que trate de expresar o imitar los síntomas del glaucoma debe tener en cuenta un seguidor de la mirada, un tipo especifico de escotoma y la localización de los escotomas, los cuales deben ser negativos (desaparecen objetos e imágenes). En esta comunicación breve proponemos realizar ejercicios de mancha ciega como simulador fisiológico de la visión con glaucoma. Creemos que realizar estos ejercicios es importante para los profesionales de la salud, así como para los familiares de los pacientes con glaucoma, para entender qué tan confusas pueden ser las imágenes del mundo real para los pacientes con glaucoma. La visión con glaucoma, en términos de percepción, es percibida igual que la visión normal con varios síntomas subconscientes que no pueden ser atribuidos directamente a la enfermedad por parte del paciente que la sufre.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Traditionally, vision and healthcare professionals describe glaucoma vision loss as &#8220;tunnel vision&#8221; or &#8220;looking through a straw&#8221;. Nevertheless, any simulator that aims to express or imitate glaucoma symptoms must consider a constant gaze tracker, a specific type of scotoma (relative or absolute), and the location of scotomas, which should also be designed as negative (disappearing objects and images). In this brief communication, we propose doing blindspot exercises as a physiologic glaucoma simulator. We believe this is important for ophthalmologists and glaucoma patient relatives in order to understand how confusing images can get in the real world for people with glaucoma. Vision in glaucoma, in perception terms, is perceived just the same as normal vision with many subconscious symptoms that cannot be directly attributed to the disease by the patient suffering from it.]]></p></abstract>
