Mediáticamente se han generado numerosas expectativas con pocas probabilidades de ser cumplidas, sin embargo, en la actualidad existen aplicaciones importantes en muchas áreas tecnológicas. Desafortunadamente el mundo nano como tal no ha encontrado un nicho en la construcción de edificaciones con productos comerciales, no obstante, las nanopartículas metálicas, por tener propiedades ópticas muy diferentes a las del metal en grandes volúmenes, han deleitado a la gente desde la antigüedad. Conociendo el origen de estas propiedades ópticas y haciendo uso de la tecnología actual, se pueden manipular dichas nanopartículas para construir paletas de colores que, en dispositivos micrométricos permiten hacer fotoimpresión con muy buena resolución.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Nanotechnology has received much attention during the last three decades. Through media, many expectations have been generated around nanotechnology. Although several of these expectations are unlikely to be accomplished, some have important contemporary technological applications. Unfortunately, the nano world as it is now, has not yet found a niche of opportunity in the building construction industry. However, metallic nanoparticles have been used since ancient times due to their optical properties that greatly differ from those proper of metals with big volumes. By knowing the origin of these optical properties and by using con­ temporary technology, today we can manipulate these metallic nanoparticles to construct color pallets that allow high resolution photo printing using micrometric devices.]]></p></abstract>
