Las partículas tipo virus están constituidas por una cápsula de proteínas virales ordenadas simétricamente sin su material genético, éstas pueden contener como cargo algún fármaco o información genética en forma de ADN o ARN, enzimas o nanopartículas metálicas. Estas nanopartículas al carecer de su material genético infeccioso pueden ser usadas potencialmente en nanomedicina para el desarrollo de nuevas terapias. Las terapias a base de partículas tipo virus pueden permitir el envío dirigido de fármacos donde sea requerido de una manera segura y eficiente y, por consiguiente, habría una disminución en las dosis requeridas y en los efectos secundarios.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT: The viruses are nanoparticles that exist in the nature; they can cause agricultural disasters and large economic losses, and even death of humans. However, they can be used in technological and medical applications. The virus-like particles are constituted by a capsule of viral proteins symmetrically arranged, without his genetic material, containing a drug as cargo or genetic information in the form of DNA or RNA, enzymes or metallic nanoparticles. These nanoparticles lacking off its infectious genetic material can be potentially used in nanomedicine to improve the efficiency of drug delivery and can help to develop new therapies. Therapies based on virus-like particles may allow targeted drug delivery where it is required in a safety and efficient way, and therefore would be a decrease in the required dose and side effects.]]></p></abstract>
