El propósito del presente trabajo es explorar en qué medida se desarrolló una cultura de investigación en los estudiantes de un programa de maestría en línea en el área de educación, en comparación con un programa presencial. Para ello, se realizó una investigación con una metodología mixta en dos fases secuenciales. En primer lugar, se utilizaron un conjunto de instrumentos para comparar los valores, conocimientos y prácticas que caracterizan a la cultura de investigación, a partir de una muestra por conveniencia de estudiantes de dos programas de maestría en educación impartidos por instituciones privadas de educación superior en México, uno en línea y uno presencial. Posteriormente, se llevaron a cabo entrevistas etnográficas semiestructuradas y un análisis documental de una muestra de proyectos de tesis en el programa en línea para identificar factores que facilitan el desarrollo de una cultura de investigación en este programa. Los resultados de este estudio indican que, en general, los estudiantes del programa presencial desarrollaron una mayor cultura de investigación que los estudiantes del programa en línea. Sin embargo, se encontró evidencia de que, en el programa en línea, cuando hay una interacción cercana con los docentes y la oportunidad de realizar actividades de investigación prácticas, esto facilita el desarrollo adecuado de una cultura de investigación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract One of the most important factors in the training of new researchers is to develop a research culture that is acquired through the transmission of knowledge and values for the practice of this activity. The purpose of this paper was to explore to what extent a research culture was developed in students in an online master's program in the area of education, compared to a face-to-face program. To this purpose, an investigation was carried out with a mixed methodology in two sequential phases. First, a set of instruments was used to compare the values, knowledge and practices that characterize the research culture, based on a convenience sample of students from two master's programs in education taught by private higher education institutions in Mexico, one online, and one face-to-face. Subsequently, semi-structured ethnographic interviews and a text analysis of a sample of thesis projects in the online program were carried out to identify factors that facilitate the development of a research culture in the online program. The results of this study indicate that in general, the students of the face-to-face program developed a greater research culture than the students of the online program, but evidence was found that, in the online program, when there is a close interaction with the professors and the opportunity for hands-on research activities, this facilitates the proper development of a research culture.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Um dos fatores mais importantes na formação de novos pesquisadores é desenvolver uma cultura de pesquisa forjada a partir da transmissão de conhecimentos e valores necessários para o exercício desta atividade. O objetivo deste artigo é explorar em que medida uma cultura de pesquisa foi desenvolvida nos alunos de um mestrado online na área de educação, comparando com um programa presencial. Para isso, foi realizada uma investigação com metodologia mista em duas fases sequenciais. Em primeiro lugar, foi utilizado um conjunto de instrumentos para comparar os valores, conhecimentos e práticas que caracterizam a cultura de pesquisa, com base em uma amostra de conveniência de alunos de dois programas de mestrado em educação ministrados por instituições privadas de ensino superior no México, um online e outro cara a cara. Posteriormente, foram realizadas entrevistas etnográficas semi-estruturadas e análise documental de uma amostra de projetos de tese no programa online para identificar fatores que facilitam o desenvolvimento de uma cultura de pesquisa neste programa. Os resultados deste estudo indicam que, em geral, os alunos do curso presencial desenvolveram uma cultura de pesquisa maior do que os alunos do curso online. No entanto, foram encontradas evidências de que, no programa online, quando há uma interação próxima com o corpo docente e a oportunidade de atividades práticas de pesquisa, isso facilita o desenvolvimento adequado de uma cultura de pesquisa.]]></p></abstract>
