Material y métodos:  El estudio se realizó con diseño cualitativo exploratorio. Los participantes fueron 25 estudiantes de la licenciatura en Enfermería, de ambos sexos, con edades entre 22 y 24 años con quienes se llevó a cabo una experiencia de formación interprofesional entre estudiantes de medicina y enfermería. La información se recolectó a través de tres grupos focales y una entrevista individual, las cuales fueron grabadas y transcritas textualmente previo al análisis. La información fue tratada mediante el análisis por codificación axial y categorización.  Resultados:  Se obtuvieron cinco categorías y nueve subcategorías: 1) difusión del programa, 2) motivación del alumnado, 3) casos clínicos como eje para la práctica interprofesional, 4) habilidades blandas vinculadas con el trabajo interprofesional y, 5) apoyo institucional.  Conclusiones:  El programa de formación interprofesional contribuyó al desarrollo de experiencias positivas fundamentales en la adquisición de competencias disciplinares y transversales, incrementó la seguridad y la autonomía relacionadas con el dominio de los protocolos clínicos para fortalecer la capacidad diagnóstica.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  To evaluate an interprofessional training practice through the experiences of nursing students. Materials and methods: The study was conducted using an exploratory qualitative design. The participants were 25 undergraduate nursing students of both sexes, aged between 22 and 24 years. An interprofessional training experience was conducted between medical and nursing students. Data were collected through three focus groups and one individual interview, which were recorded and transcribed verbatim prior to analysis. The information was processed using axial coding and categorization. Results: Five categories and nine subcategories were obtained: 1) program dissemination, 2) student motivation, 3) clinical cases as a focus for interprofessional practice, and 4) personal skills and institutional support.  Conclusions:  The interprofessional training program contributed to the development of fundamental positive experiences in the acquisition of disciplinary and transversal competencies, increased safety and autonomy related to the mastery of clinical protocols to strengthen diagnostic capacity.]]></p></abstract>
