Las competencias son inferidas a partir de los desempeños observados de los estudiantes o residentes; esta observación provee las bases para que puedan ser evaluadas para asegurar que dichas competencias se han adquirido. Los currículos basados en competencias deberían asegurar que aquellas más relevantes se alcancen al final del periodo de formación. Es en ese contexto, que se han desarrollado currículos basados en APROC (actividades profesionales a confiar o EPAs - entrustable professional activities - en inglés) como una forma más explícita y transparente de operacionalizar los resultados de la formación. Las actividades profesionales a confiar suponen un sistema de evaluación que considere un proceso progresivo de supervisión decreciente en la medida que el estudiante o residente va demostrando la adquisición de las competencias en cada una de las APROC. La presente revisión intenta ofrecer una guía y orientación en lengua española, que permita el diseño metodológico de las APROCs tanto en grado como postgrado. La guía incluye la definición de las APROCs y sus características, la descripción del proceso en etapas de su desarrollo, y cómo buscarlas en la bibliografía.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Competency-based Education (CBE) or outcome-based education has spread worldwide in recent decades. Competencies must be inferred from the observable performances of students or residents; this observation provides the basis for their assessment to ensure that these competencies have been acquired. CBE should ensure that the most relevant ones are achieved by the end of the training period. In this context, Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA)- based curricula have been developed as a more explicit and transparent way of operationalizing training outcomes. EPA concept implies a programmatic assessment that considers a progressive process of decreasing supervision as the student or resident becomes more competent in each of the selected activities. This article aims to provide a guide and orientation in Spanish language, facilitating the methodological design of undergraduate and postgraduate training programs. The guide includes the definition of EPAs and their characteristics, a description of the developmental process in stages, and how to find them in the literature.]]></p></abstract>
