<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-50572017000300147&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-50572017000300147&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-50572017000300147&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Introducción La simulación médica ha sido empleada para facilitar la enseñanza de procedimientos diagnósticos y terapéuticos, así como conceptos médicos, toma de decisiones, aspectos éticos y trabajo en equipo con estudiantes de pregrado, posgrado y médicos ya formados así como en otros profesionales de la salud.  Objetivos Elaborar un simulador de piel para el entrenamiento en competencias básicas quirúrgicas del Pregrado Médico. Evaluar la adquisición de competencias básicas en cirugía en un grupo de alumnos de Pregrado.  Métodos En un grupo de 90 alumnos de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México del segundo año de la carrera Médico General, se les evaluó durante dos periodos la adquisición de competencias básicas y manejo de instrumental para el cierre de una herida superficial simulada. Se dividieron en tres subgrupos de acuerdo al uso de modelos biológicos/no biológicos.  Análisis estadístico Al comparar más de dos grupos utilizamos el análisis de la varianza con un factor o de una vía, prueba ANOVA.  Resultados Se construyeron 6 simuladores por cada cartucho de silicón, obteniendo una lámina superficial de 2-4 mm de grosor que posee comportamiento elástico, consistencia blanda, lisa, flexible y resistente. Se compararon las evaluaciones finales de los tres subgrupos. Encontramos que existe diferencia entre el uso de piel sintética y pata de puerco en comparación con el uso del conejo en la evaluación final del punto Sarnoff y subdérmico.  Conclusiones En nuestro estudio demostramos mejor adquisición de competencias quirúrgicas al utilizar un simulador no biológico, probablemente por el entrenamiento constante y fácil manipulación de dicho modelo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction Medical simulation has been used as a teaching aid in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, medical concepts, decision making, ethical aspects, and teamwork with undergraduates, doctors, and other health professionals.  Objectives To develop a skin simulator for surgical training in basic skills in medical undergraduates. To evaluate the acquisition of basic skills in surgery in a group of undergraduates.  Methods A group of 90 second year medical students of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous Unviversity of Mexico were evaluated during two periods on the acquisition of basic skills and management instruments for closing a simulated shallow wound. They were divided into three groups, according to the use of biological/non-biological models.  Statistical analysis Comparison of the groups using the analysis of variance with a factor, ANOVA test.  Results A total of 6 simulators were constructed for each silicone cartridge, obtaining a surface sheet 2-4 mm thick, with elastic behaviour and a soft, smooth, flexible and resilient consistency. The final evaluations of the three groups were compared. A difference was found between using a skin simulator and pig leg compared to the use of rabbit in the final evaluation of Sarnoff and subdermal sutures.  Conclusions A better acquisition of surgical skills was observed when using a non-biological simulator, probably because of the constant training and easy manipulation of the model.]]></p></abstract>
