A pesar de haber sobrepasado estereotipos que identifican ciencia y éxito profesional con lo masculino, experimentan otros que asocian a la mujer con el cuidado familiar. Se evidencia la importancia de redes de apoyo entre pares y la existencia de iniciativas institucionales aún con aspectos por mejorar. Así, la experiencia de estas académicas va marcando precedentes, siendo también un ejemplo para otras instituciones.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Estudo de caso desenvolvido na Escola de Engenharia de uma universidade de pesquisa no Chile, que procurou compreender a experiência de acadêmicas de tempo completo em um contexto de crescente participação institucional, mediante entrevistas a acadêmicas e diretivos. Apesar de haver transmitido estereótipos que identificam ciência e êxito profissional com o masculino, e outras experiências que associam à mulher ao cuidado familiar. Se evidencia a importância de redes de apoio entre pares e a existência de iniciativas institucionais mesmo com aspectos por melhorar. Assim, a experiência destas acadêmicas vai marcando precedentes, sendo também um exemplo para outras instituições.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This case study, carried out at the School of Engineering of a research university in Chile, seeked to understand the experience of full-time academics in a context of growing institutional participation, through interviews with academics and managers. Despite having surpassed stereotypes that identify science and professional success with the masculine, they experience other clichés that associate women with family care. There is evidence of the importance of peer support networks and of the existence of institutional initiatives, but many aspects still need to be improved. Thus, the experience of these academics is setting precedents, being also an example for other institutions.]]></p></abstract>
