La producción de garbanzo tipo &#8216;Kabuli&#8217; se sitúa en los estados de Sinaloa, Michoacán, Sonora, Guanajuato y Baja California Sur, donde se obtiene un grano de alto calibre, mismo que ha dado renombre al garbanzo mexicano a nivel mundial. La nueva variedad de garbanzo &#8216;Combo-743&#8217; tipo Kabuli, se derivó de la cruza de dos variedades comerciales, Progreso-95 × Blanco Sinaloa-92. La variedad Combo-743 se adapta a todas las zonas de producción de garbanzo en México, la planta es semi-erecta, la flor es de color blanco, su vaina es de tamaño medio y su grano es de color blanco cremoso, con rugosidad pronunciada, similar al de Blanco Sinaloa-92. Esta nueva variedad es resistente a la enfermedad de la marchitez causada por especies de Fusarium. En promedio de cinco ensayos, Combo-743 rindió 2,317 kg ha-1 comparado con 2 146 kg ha-1 de Blanco Sinaloa-92 (variedad comercial de mayor superficie sembrada). Combo-743 posee un calibre de 43 granos/30 g y un porcentaje de exportación de 94% (grano&gt; 9 mm) comparado con 91% de Blanco Sinaloa-92.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Mexico is the twelfth largest chickpea producer worldwide. The production of Kabuli-type chickpea is located in the states of Sinaloa, Michoacán, Sonora, Guanajuato, and Baja California Sur, where grain of high caliber is obtained, which has made the Mexican chickpea famous worldwide. The new Kabuli-type chickpea variety, &#8216;Combo-743&#8217;, was derived from the cross between from two commercial varieties, Progreso-95 × Blanco Sinaloa-92. The Combo-743 variety adapts to all chickpea production areas in Mexico; the plant is semi-erect, the flower is white, its pod is medium in size, and its grain is creamy white with pronounced roughness, similar to that of Blanco Sinaloa-92. This new variety is resistant to the wilting disease caused by Fusarium species. On average of five trials, Combo-743 yielded 2 317 kg ha-1 compared to 2 146 kg ha-1 of Blanco Sinaloa-92 (the commercial variety with the largest sown area). Combo-743 has a caliber of 43 grains/30 g and an export percentage of 94% (grains&gt; 9 mm) compared to 91% of Blanco Sinaloa-92.]]></p></abstract>
