Este estudio tuvo como objetivo caracterizar la variabilidad fisicoquímica de las accesiones de guayaba brasileña injertadas en BRS Guaraçá, un portainjerto resistente a nematodos, para guiar el desarrollo de nuevos cultivares. En 2020, se analizaron los frutos de 87 accesiones del Banco de Germoplasma de Psidium de Embrapa Semiárido, muestreados en 12 estados brasileños y establecidos en Petrolina, PE, Brasil, para determinar el color de la cáscara y la pulpa, la firmeza de la pulpa, la acidez titulable, los sólidos solubles, la vitamina C, el licopeno y el &#946;-caroteno en la pulpa fresca. Los datos se sometieron a análisis de varianza y construcción de histogramas. Los resultados fueron significativos (p&lt; 0.05) para todas las variables cuantitativas, lo que indica variabilidad fenotípica entre accesiones. El contenido de &#946;-caroteno varió de 0.02 a 1.83 mg 100 g-1, con una media de 0.49 mg 100 g-1. El valor medio de licopeno fue de 0.77 mg 100 g-1, variando de 0 a 3.7 mg 100 g-1. Las accesiones GUA33PE y GUA135RR mostraron valores altos de firmeza de pulpa y son recomendadas para el desarrollo de cultivares con mayor resistencia al transporte. Las accesiones GUA31PI, con 686 mg 100 g-1, y GUA48SE, con 621 mg 100 g-1, mostraron valores altos de vitamina C y son recomendadas para el desarrollo de cultivares con mayores contenidos de este compuesto bioactivo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Guava is a fruit species of worldwide importance due to its characteristics favorable for consumption; for example, aroma, flavor, texture and vitamin C. This study aimed to characterize the physicochemical variability of Brazilian guava accessions grafted onto BRS Guaraçá, a nematode resistant rootstock, to guide the development of new cultivars. Fruits from 87 accessions from the Embrapa Semiárido Psidium Germplasm Bank, sampled in 12 Brazilian States and established at Petrolina, PE, Brazil, were analyzed in 2020 for peel and pulp color, pulp firmness, titratable acidity, soluble solids, vitamin C, lycopene, and &#946;-carotene in the fresh pulp. The data were subjected to analysis of variance and histograms construction. The results were significant (p&lt; 0.05) for all quantitative variables, indicating phenotypical variability among accessions. The &#946;-carotene contents ranged from 0.02 to 1.83 mg.100 g-1, with a mean of 0.49 mg 100 g-1. The lycopene mean value was 0.77 mg100 g-1, ranging from 0 to 3.7 mg 100 g-1. Accessions GUA33PE and GUA135RR showed high pulp firmness values and are recommended for the development of cultivars with greater resistance to transport.
