Existen distintas clasificaciones con la finalidad de disminuir los procedimientos invasivos innecesarios en pacientes con nódulos tiroideos para búsqueda de cáncer.  Objetivo:  analizar la asociación de los parámetros ultrasonográficos que implementa TI-RADS-ACR, con los hallazgos histopatológicos de cáncer de tiroides.  Material y métodos:  estudio observacional, retrospectivo y analítico en pacientes con sospecha de cáncer tiroideo de la consulta externa del Hospital Angeles Mocel en la Ciudad de México, en un periodo de cinco años, con antecedente de haberles realizado ultrasonido y resección tiroidea, ya fuese completa o parcial, y resultado histopatológico.  Resultados:  no presentaron hallazgos histopatológicos de malignidad 75.8% de los nódulos, 19.2% resultaron en carcinoma papilar y 5% en carcinoma folicular. Se obtuvo un OR de 6.6 (p &lt; 0.001), para la presencia de datos ultrasonográficos sospechosos de cáncer de tiroides por TI-RADS-ACR y resultado histopatológico de cáncer de tiroideo.  Conclusiones:  se tiene una alta probabilidad de tener diagnóstico histopatológico de cáncer tiroideo cuando se presentan hallazgos ultrasonográficos sospechosos utilizando la clasificación TI-RADS-ACR.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  thyroid cancer has a low mortality rate because it is considered slow-growing and not very aggressive, although its incidence has increased in the last decade. Different classifications are intended to reduce unnecessary invasive procedures in patients with thyroid nodules to search for cancer.  Objective:  to analyze the association of the ultrasonographic parameters implemented by TI-RADS-ACR, with the histopathological findings of thyroid cancer.  Material and methods:  an observational, retrospective, and analytical study in patients with suspected thyroid cancer in the outpatient clinic of Hospital Angeles Mocel in Mexico City, in five years, with a history of having performed thyroid ultrasound and thyroid resection, either complete or partial with the histopathological result.  Results:  75.8% of the nodules did not present histopathological findings of malignancy, 19.2% resulted in papillary carcinoma, and 5% in follicular carcinoma. An OR of 6.6 (p &lt; 0.001) was obtained for the presence of ultrasound data suspected of thyroid cancer by TI-RADS-ACR and the histopathological results of thyroid cancer.  Conclusions:  there is a high probability of having a histopathological diagnosis of thyroid cancer when suspicious ultrasound findings are presented using the TI-RADS-ACR classification.]]></p></abstract>
