<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1870-72032017000100008&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1870-72032017000100008&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1870-72032017000100008&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: La insuflación por escape mínimo es una técnica subjetiva que se emplea para insuflar el globo del tubo endotraqueal; tiene un alto grado de inexactitud, lo que puede condicionar fuga aérea durante la ventilación mecánica o isquemia de la mucosa, con la consiguiente estenosis laringotraqueal. El objetivo del estudio de tipo observacional, longitudinal, prospectivo y descriptivo es identificar si existe uniformidad en el sellado y la presión del globo con la técnica de escape mínimo. De un total de 339 sujetos, el 30.1% (102 casos) correspondió al género femenino y el 69.9% (237 individuos) al masculino. Su rango de edad fue de 23 a 89 años, con una media de 55. Sólo 60 pacientes (17.7%) tuvieron presiones entre 20 y 30 cmH2O, mientras que el 82.3% (279 personas) se encontraron fuera de rango, pues presentaron infra- o suprainflado: 89 pacientes (26.3%) mostraron presiones &lt; 20 cmH2O y 190, (56%) presiones &gt; 30 cmH2O. Esto demuestra que la técnica de escape mínimo tiene un alto grado de inexactitud, con tendencia a la sobreinflación e incremento de la presión.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Endotracheal intubation is a procedure that consists in the placement of a tube into the trachea to establish and maintain an airway to provide adequate oxygenation, ventilate with positive pressure, or administer anesthetic gas in patients undergoing a surgical operation. It is an interface between the anesthesia machine and the patient. The aim of this study was to determine the insufflation pressure of the cuff in the endotracheal tube with the minimal leak technique. The results showed that, of a total of 339 subjects, 60 (17.7%) had pressures between 20 and 30 cm of H2O while 279 (82.3%) showed pressures of less than 20 or over 30 cm of H2O. We concluded that the minimal leak technique is a subjective one that has a high grade of inaccuracy, with a tendency to overinflate, which can lead to ischemia of the mucosa, with a consequential stenosis.]]></p></abstract>
