<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1870-54722025000400534&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1870-54722025000400534&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1870-54722025000400534&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN: El presente estudio, analiza la relación entre la cobertura forestal y la provisión hídrica necesaria en cultivos de aguacate (Persea americana), para determinar un balance entre ambas, a partir del modelo de rendimiento hídrico &#8220;Water Yield&#8221;, que permite identificar la producción de agua en una cuenca hidrográfica específica. Los resultados obtenidos, permiten establecer la cantidad de bosque necesario para dar sustento hídrico al aguacate, en el contexto de la creciente demanda de este producto agroalimentario a nivel mundial. En este sentido, es posible delinear la pauta para reflexionar acerca de las modificaciones en los usos del suelo en el territorio, a partir de la conversión hacia el cultivo del aguacate, con lo cual es posible, advertir una alteración en el rendimiento hídrico del mismo. Se concluye que, en la región sur del Estado de México, teniendo en cuenta las funciones de regulación del bosque, la proporción necesaria para sustentar hídricamente una hectárea de aguacate es de 1.35 ha.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT: This study analyzes the relationship between forest cover and water supply required for avocado (Persea americana) cultivation, in order to determine a balance between these two; based on the &#8220;Water Yield&#8221; model, which makes it possible to quantify water production in a specific watershed. The results obtained enable establishing the amount of forest needed to provide adequate water supply for avocado, in the context of the growing demand for this agro-food product worldwide. In this sense, it is possible to outline the guidelines for reflecting on changes in land use in the territory, based on the switch to avocado cultivation, so that an alteration in water availability can be avoided. We conclude that in the southern region of the State of Mexico, considering the regulatory impact of forest, it appears that the proportion required to provide water to one hectare of avocado is 1.35 ha.]]></p></abstract>
